Tannbunker ribbons?

Want to bring this back up.

Not too long ago We were thinking of something what the french forums did with ribbons for various things (US forum, veteran, savage tales, fluff contributor, etc.)

wanted some idears

would you want new custom created badges or use ribbons that are all ready used by our men and women in the service click the link below to see what I mean.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Awar...ons_of_the_United_States_military

Or would you like to see badges rather than ribbons?

If you're going down this road I think custom ribbons would be the best - as they use on the French forum.
Badges would probably take up too much space and look a bit untidy. Using actual ribbons from either US/UK/French medals , award and decorations might cause offence to friends and family of actual receipients of these awards as they are generally given for acts of heroism and bravery.

Then there is the question of when and how often these are awarded - yearly , bi-annually , quarterly or monthly ?
Rules , conditions and circumstances will have to be clearly defined - it will save a lot of arguments later.
And the biggest problem is who decides who gets what - is it a single person or a committee ?
Doc Savage

tomodachi -

You voiced my thoughts exactly. Using the actual ribbons is not the way to go. We have not earned those and should make up our own if that's what people want to do. This is not something that is important to me one way or the other.

You could have a nominating forum and people could start threads to nominate someone for something and others could second on the same thread and if there were enough yes votes without any no votes then the ribbon is awarded.

Excelent point.

As for how they would be awarded there are various ways.

A vote by public or committee and/or meeting requirement.

Example: A ribbon for people that contributed to Savage tales, being doc's blog and constantly contributes to it, it is a no "brainer" that a ST ribbon would go to him  neureal

I am going to let this discussion smooth out to see what else comes to mind.

but here are some thoughts for ribbons/badges

French Forum (ToY) (frequent posters over at French Forum)
FFG Forum (frequent posters over at FFG)
Savage Tales (those who contribute frequently to ST)
Translator (people who have contributed large amounts of translations where FFG has failed to do)
Tannbunker (See FFG and ToY)
Fluff/Creator (those who have contributed new materials to the game: Scenarios, characters, equipments, maps, stories, art, etc.)
Malechi

Here are some suggested Ribbons I crated based on Military Ribbons (no actual ribbons copied) and those used on the ToY forums (no actual ribbons copied):

Mal is our god. We are not worthy!

The_SunDance_Kid

hey mal, by any chanse you thik you could make a Reich, Union ad Mats players?
Malechi

Here are the suggested Ribbons for Player Factions:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
• Matriarchy Players
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
• Reich Players
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
• Union Players
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT: Revised the above Ribbons as per tomodachi6874's observations below. He was absolutely correct in his assertion as to the colors that should be used.
tomodachi6874

Malechi - You are the graphics king , you must create this stuff in your sleep.
Just a minor thing but I'd have different background colours for the faction ribbons in keeping with the colours used for the faction tokens.
Matriarchy would be Red (as you used for the Reich)
Reich would be Green (not a bright green maybe with a hint of grey)
Union would be Buff Yellow/Orange (as you used for the Matriarchy)

And the one with TOY in the center of the ribbon should read "Frequent Poster of Substance at French (or TOY) Forum" rather than "Frequent Poster of Substance at Fantasy Flight Games Forum"

Then only thing to decide who or how they are awarded - some are a given - the obvious ones being Doc , Littlewars , Malechi , Plageman , Scottie and Sundance.
The_SunDance_Kid

So how do we want to award the ribbons?

like I said some are a given Doc and Savage tales owner, post count ribbon, and fan of a certain faction.

Would anone want to see a vote every so many months for other ribbons like map makers, characters, contributors to Savage tales. Something like that?

Just a rough example

say every 3 months we will nominate several people and the communitee will vote, giving out say 2 ribbons?

And re there any other suggestions for ribbons?

keep talkin'
Scottie Wolfe

Hey guys!

Yes I'm still alive.  Just barely so, however lol

Man, good to see all the action on the boards!

My only suggestion are "country" based badges... y'know, something to reflect where we are from.  So say a USA or CAN badge for Americans and Canadians.  Obviously there would be more like FRA for France, SPA for Spain...

Anyways, that's the only thing I can think of at the moment.  Then again, might just be a tad redundant seeing as we all have "location" info right under our avatars....
tomodachi6874

I think you could go ahead and award the first round of ribbons, in say a month, for the obvious receipiants.
They being Doc , Littlewars , Malechi , Plageman , Scottie and Sundance - you guys are the mainstay of this community. If it wasn't for you guys Tannhauser would be a dead duck by now - FFG being no help unlike ToY.

Then have set times for new awards say the middle/late December , September , June and March .

Open nominations in the preceeding months for who gets which award, for example Sundance for Developer of New Outstanding Map (The Foix Bunker) with a limit of say two nominations per member per quarter. And of course you can't nominate yourself.

A community vote in say the four weeks before award date. With maybe a limit of three votes per member. You could use a points based system giving three , two and one point to indicate your top three nominations in order of merit but that could get messy and complicated but there is only twenty three members of this forum as I write this. And of course you can't vote for yourself.

And then the top three get the ribbons for the quarter or two a quarter and three in December the third being for Outstanding Overall Contributor of the Year.

Leaving open the option for new ribbons to created as and when.
For example a couple that has not been suggested :

1) "Honourable Mention" or "Mentioned In Dispatches" for anyone who gets their name listed in the credits of any  official product. This one would be an automatic award on release of the product. The same ribbon could be used with different lettering for the product in question ie D for Daedalus , FO for Field Ops etc etc

2) "Outstanding Overall Contributor Of The Year" or "Medal of Honour" as an Annual award at Christmas for the most deserving person that year. Again same ribbon could be used with the year numbered in the middle ie 08 for 2008 , 09 for 2009 , 10 for 2010 etc etc
Doc Savage

Anything happening with the ribbons?

Do we just put them in the sig?
The_SunDance_Kid

That is really not for me to decide.

We are a democracy. We vote and listen to all ideas.

Malechi

Thoughts?

NOTE: I have updated many of the Ribbon images to defer what I saw as muddy colors and added ribbons for Scottie's Tannhäuser Scenarios website.
littlewars

I don't know if I even like the idea of these ribbons.

It kind of gives the forum an "old boys club" feel that might be alienating to new posters. As an example; what if someone with lots of "ribbons" posts an erroneous or misinformed comment; a newbie (with no ribbons) might be reluctant to post something that is contradictory to the Tannbunker "elite". That would be counter productive.

It's weird to me to award each other these arbitrary accolades. Isn't just making stuff rewarding enough? Not fond of ranking systems I guess. I'd like it if we are just a bunch of equally enthusiastic players contributing to the game community. Maybe having something like forum-created "theme project" threads would be a better community builder, that's worked well before!
Malechi

You couldn't have mentioned this opinion a month ago!
littlewars

I am mentioning it now.
The_SunDance_Kid

everyone fling their poo at LW like a chimp does!
