Post Tannhäuser Double Blind Play  Reply with quote
The following was translated from the rantings of a deranged Reich scientist...

Tannhäuser Double Blind Play
...or trying to turn a bug into a feature...

This new Mode of Play requires 2 maps and 2 sets of figures (or a token set).

Since Novgorod also includes the Ksaiz Castle map and Daedalus includes the Catacombs map,  collectors of Tannhäuser will have two boards of both Ksaiz Castle and the Catacombs. This allows both teams to have their own seperate board. With a referee checking the moves, each team enters the board without knowing the location of the other. Only upon entering a common pathfinding will the referee add the position of the opponents figures to each board.

Each player only ever sees their own board.

When a character leaves line of sight the token is removed from the opponents board.

This process will be much more time consuming than the regular way, but would totally changes the tactics and choices, giving a real cat-and-mouse feel to the game.

So what do you think???

Sounds very interesting... yet, as you said, very time-consuming.  although I'd be curious to hear about a play session

Sounds interesting, but finding someone to referee sounds a bit off-putting. What about an "I Hear You" type of play. Each player moves their characters on their separate boards. They then announces what color paths their characters are on. If required, any encounters are resolved. This allows a fog of war feeling as you know generally where the forces are but not exactly what is happening and where ...

"I hear you" could work... but would once again require the honor system.  But, I CAN see it working.  I'm not one for the whole "fog of war" thing... but I might give this a shot.
